Fire extinguisher - refill or buy new

Gday folks,
I have a small fire extinguisher which I had to use recently and its gauge is now on the recharge level and there is no pressure in it.
Its only a 0.9kg, like most of us have in our fourbies.
Do I get it refilled or is it cheaper to just buy a new one?
Seems a hell of a waste to throw away a nice steel cylinder, and I dont need a small air tank
thanks,
Grazza

Buy a new one. The price to refill, pressure test and the possibilty of some seal replacement can cost the same as a new one (even more).

DCP (dry chem powder) in anything less than 2kg isnt really worth refilling as the cost difference isn't worth it. Also if they are ever used at all, even the smallest amount of powder coming out. They need to be refilled or replaced. As once a DCP breaks the seal. Its like a bloke drinking light beer. There stuffed, they will continue to leak. As they are like a seal on those small CO2 cylinders.

Thanks.
Thought I would have to buy a new one, must be a much more involved exercise than filling a scuba tank, which I use to do on Rottnest Island from 6am-8pm everday...
Such a wasteful world we live in...

Yer everything when there being filled has to be 100% dry or it turns to concrete. I never did the course, as some spanker stuffed up doing friendlys. Just before I was to do the course and the company I worked for didnt think it was worth the hassle anymore so contracted it out.

Not really.
Take the top off, fill it with water, put a fitting in the end then pressurise it to it's test pressure and sit for a minute to check for leaks.
Empty it, turn it upside down on the drier and let sit till it's dry. Whilst it's drying check the head and replace any seals that are/look faulty.
Once dry, fill with powder, screw the head back on and pressurise.
Wouldn't even take an hours worth of labour to do, but you're going to be charged it for an individual extinguisher, as it's typically going to be seen as a low priority to work being carried out for contracted clients.

Buy a new one , then the water pistol idea is simple== remove top- wash out fill with H2O- leave a little head space-charge up with compressor & bingo Water pistol, work good too, I got a 9kg one,
