SILVERSTONE AMAZING RACE June 9/11th, 2007

Post by NavRun »

Its on again for the 3rd year running.

This is it ... the family fun 4wd event just like the TV show.

What you need is any form of basic off road / all terrain vehicle, a GPS and a sense of adventure (a sense of humour will go a long way too). BYO a family - even someone else's family will do.

Based in the Big Desert (NW Victoria), it is bitumen all the way to camp. Most people will arrive Friday night of the Queen's Birthday weekend and set up camp. There are clean toilets at camp but everything else needs to be brought along. The event concludes Monday afternoon.

You will start each of the days with a GPS destination. Look it up on the map and work out how to get there within say 10-20 metres according to your GPS. At that point there will be instructions such as a special task along with your next destination. And so the day goes, from one adventure to the next driving on sandy roads and trails in the vast expanse of the Big Desert wilderness. Last year there were sand dune / lookout vehicle climbs, a Yabbee catching competition and treasure hunts for the kids.

Again on the Monday night there is a caterred BBQ with alcoholic drinks provided - cool huh!

We'll be there again this year, wouldn't miss it for quids. Actually i wouldn't be allowed to miss it, the family loved it last year and hammered me to go again. Get ya family in the wagon and get along to it. Great destination, great people (me included), and great format. This event is as casual or as seriouys as you want it to be. The kids will love it, the missus will love it and you'll love it. You wont be disappointed. You don't need to be a navigational wizard or hard core driver.

I'll see ya's all there! (hopefully with stories to tell about OBC 2007 ;) )
Cheers Dan.

Post by Hobzee »

Now I'm worried

.. I gotta sit in a car with Cruiser Dude ... What a gay name

.. Big Red Toy is in a Jeep .... bloody hell!

.. Whistling 60 is helping ... oh my god!

.. Doodle boy is calling us Gentlemen ... Wot tha!

.. Ruffy and I are in a stalemate but only 1 man can win ...

Ruffy would have left for OBC by now and I wish him and any other Navsters going to compete all the best of luck and the Navster Marshals have all agreed on preferencial treatment... in lieue of free Navster points on the next Navrun. Ruffy .. that means you owe me

So I win by default ... damn that takes the sting right out of it... I guess I can toy with BRT and poke him with a stick or something to keep myself amused.

I hope Lizzie's gonna be OK. Give her my regards.

I gotta say Dan Ol boy, we missed you while you were away. Outers just wasn't the same...

Sorry Hobzee, you'll need to wait till I accrue sufficient brownie points to get an entire weekend away Navrunning -- hopefully late '07! You'll have your chance, and I'm looking forwards to the challenge!

BTW have decided on a different approach for PC08.
