Hilux Help??

Post by gravel »

Im looking to purchase a 3 litre TD Hilux and have found a Lux with the following model number:

Vehicle 2003 TOYOTA HILUX LN167R MY02 Dual Cab
Price $31,990 *
Engine 4 cylinder Diesel Multi-point injected 3.0L (2986cc)
Stock # 13097T

I was curious of the model number LN167R: is this a straight diesel??

I have been told that the turbo diesels have a model number simlar to KZN16SR rather than an LN number.

The reason i ask is i dont want to buy a Lux with an aftermarket turbo on it - id rather a factory fitted turbo so i know exactly what i'm getting.

Can anyone please shed some light on this for me??

Thanks.

I believe original fitted turbos do start with KZN so i would say it is an after market turbo. Looked at about 15 this week and all factory fitted turbos are KZN while the LN are not fitted with a turbo from factory

good thing to answer Q's like this is redbook
Non turbo, http://www.redbookasiapacific.com/au/ve ... y=TOYO03EE
turbo http://www.redbookasiapacific.com/au/ve ... y=TOYO03EF you can also go back and look through heaps of others and, with the links to that page you can look at all the spec's aswell. Could it be a factory add on also a possablity.

Buy add on it may have been purchased as an extra when it was bought new but don't know maybe look at a few others and see if they have the same looking turbo setup on them and you may be able to use it to talk him down a bit

The LN and KZN refer to the engine an LN has a 5L engine and a KZN has a 1KZ engine all 1KZ's are factory turbo's with an allie head which do crack.5L engines have a cast iron head and seem to handle after market turbo's fairly well.

Buy that i mean say you want leather seats or metalic paint you pay $X amount for it so i cant see why they wouldn't do it for a turbo just a thought. hope that helps
