Just wanted to know if the Hilux has a different name in the US?

No. From 88 to 95 the truck sold as the Toyota Pickup in North America was almost the same as an IFS Hilux. Up to 88 the solid axle ones were almost the same as the solid front axle Hiluxes. The Tacoma and Tundra are quite different. The chassis arent nearly as strong and the parts aren't interchangeable with Hiluxes sold in the rest of the world. They never got the double cab versions either until the Tacoma and Tundra came along and only have petrol engines.

The American lift kits for the Toyota pickup will go on Hiluxes and the same ARB diffs will work in both up to the 2005 model Hilux. The US ones need a different carrier bearing tho cos their IDs are smaller. I'm using balljoint spacers in my Hilux designed for the IFS US market Toyota Pickup and plan on picking up a 4" Skyjacker lift for it sometime in the near future.

So Spong, what do we need to export to the US to make money on?? Sounds like the crew cab Lux mite be a winner..

For sure. I dunno why the U.S market Toyota camp keeps depriving the American market of some better quality trucks than what's over there now.

The Toyota market where I am in the world is quite different from what you guys get in Oz too. My 2003 Lux, an LN166R model, seems to have quite a different layout than what was sold in Oz at that time. We've also had the Fortuners over here since the new Hiluxes launched back in 05 and I dont think you guys are getting those yet. The new Hiluxes in our market seem to be set up a little different to you guys too, the back bumper is different for one. We don't get the selection of Landcruisers you guys get though.

The Tundra has a V8 option. There's a couple double cab V8 ones around the island here and they're huge for a Toyota pickup. They've got a full length tub on the back of a double cab. Must be a good 3-4 feet longer than a new double cab Hilux.

every time i go over to LA the tundras i see are v8 so i just assumed they were the same thing but one had a 8 and the other a 6.
never really payed much attention to them

North America never got the Double cab but South America did.
