Hi, I'm new to this site so i hope i'm posting in the right area.Anyway my question is, where would you recommend i buy a reconditioned motor for a 1995 suzuki sierra, i just brought the Suzuki and when i took it to the mechanic to get it tuned up and looked at he told me that 3 out of the 4 cylinders were stuffed.
Any help would be appreciated.

have you looked at puting an efi motor in it maybe out of a vitara the 1.6L you can get the front chops for about $1200 $1500 depends if you want to go that way

Pete,
A quick note about this board - it is very technical and people will tend to assume that A)you are willing to invest heavily in your car, b)are interested in momdification, and C) have a fair degree of mechanical aptitude.
Yes, you can put a vitara motor in a sierra, but it is a conversion and in EFI form will involve substantial work on wiring and fuel system.
The gearbox requires an adapter plate, weldng onto the gearbox, or drilling and tapping the engine block. the Bible should be able to assist with this.
238K out of a sierra motor is pretty good- you couldn't ask for more than that.
Having said that, 90k is a fair bit for a 2nd hand motor. Maybe have a look at an import swift motor as you already have all the accessories (pullies, sump etc) to convert them to the sierra application. These tend to have low K's on them, are quite cheap, and generally come with a warranty. Christover on the board has done this.

maybe get a second opinion on the motor. old mate mechanic might just be trying to make a quick buck, never know has happened before.
