Got my stezz in the paj installed by jb hifi and when cranked up the interior lights dimm with the bass.
I installed almost the same setup in my patrol ( same splits) and the old patrol seems to be in a different league of it own. all connections soldered, etc
Both top end pioneer head units running the same 6 inch splits in the front only and the paj has some fairly std speakers in the rear as well.
Just thought id see if anyone knows whats going on b4 i go back dawon to jb hifi.
Thanks

my mate has a pretty serious setup in his zook and the stock alternator couldnt keep up. his lights would dim with the bass

I bet they used the standard battery power wire for the HU, some HU can pull up to 15A, the standard wire usually runs the clock and interior light as well

Thats what i was thinking along the lines of.
as for alt, its only a head unit with some sewwt speakers wired into it, Not a boom box ricer. although i did want to put my amps in. Maybe i still need too.
Thanks

Did the Patrol have capacitors on the amp?

mate. i would say get a better amp or get thinkier wires.this could be also due to to much power out put. try 8 guage rca leads

some head units get there power differently
ie; they have a constant power supply for memory and a switched power supply to turn on and off with the ignition
now saying that some draw there power from the constant power supply and use the ignition to only turn on and off drawing little power (i think this is in your case)
the others only use the constant power for memory and draw all there power from the switched ignition source
you will have to figure out what type or where it draws its main power from so it can be wired up correctly

I'd say this is highly likely.

yeah ive got the same thing with my 4runner. with heavy bass you can notice everything dimming *headlights, interier lights, clock etc* most people with a decent setup have this problem - its just something isnt big enough to cope with the serious sounds-nothing to worry about unless your headlights turn off completely with the bass
