MQ 'sort of' stalling??

just the last cpl of days i have found that occasionaly my engine would loose all power, sound like its stopped or at really low idle and my speed would drop rappidly(figured out the speed thing is just engine braking...).

the tacho would (usualy) stay at the same spot, i.e. not drop or increase at all.

after a moment or so the engine would start back up again, and if not i just had to pump the accelerator a few times and she would kick back in.

twice now it has stalled compleatly, all other times just loss of power.

the first cpl of times it happend in 2nd gear at 2000 revs, since then its been kinda random...

oh yeah, engine is SD33

p.s. sorry bout the randomness of the symptoms, just writing them down as im remembering them.

cheers
Macca

start with fuel filter and the screen in the banjo bolt before the lift pump.

failing that id try replacing the vacuum bladder as in recent thread on here.

Cheers

follow the fuel line in to the engine bay from the tank ( the largest line) up to where it goes onto a fitting( that is the banjo bolt) . it look slike this

once you undo it and remove it ( carfull not to loose the washers.) you will see a small screen that screws on the inside of the bolt. that is what you need to clean.

so cleaned a SHITELOAD of crap outa the banjo, started it and it stoped a cpl of times, but driving home again abit l8a it was fine... shall see how it goes to and from work 2moz...

i did realise earlier that it started on fri and i filled the tank on thurs night... so im thinkin contaminated fuel prehaps. if thats the case then all good, and i learnt how to change a few things on the old girl along the way, if its not, then ill have to keep loking into things...

You disconnected your enig motor, It's a little elec motor on the drivers side of the block that controls your start/run/stop "valve" on the side of your injector pump on the inlet pipe. Ther'yll be a small rod from motor to valve control.
Don't stall just pop your bonnet and push back on the valve arm (on side of injector pump, on inlet line)

man its not my week, got halfway to work this morn when i started hearing a REALY load knocking in the engine, pulled over and decided it must be a cylender not firing.

got a lift to work, then after went back to the vehicle and with the old owner (a mate and a diesel mech to boot) decided that, 1; it overheated, 2; there was no oil, and 3; a rod had broken and i had a piston bouncin round inside the cylender.

heres the odd thing, altho my temp gauge and oil pressure gauge never went above normal, not even once id pulled over, all my oil was inside the rad and the rad hoses had started to melt... other odd thing is that i check my oil leval weekly and last weekend it was 3/4 full, now empty... wtf is with that??

i should so sell this and get a yota (sorry guys :P ) lol

right now, my truck sucks balls...

so i was talkin to a bloke today who has a mate who is wrocking a SWB mav with a running td42, how easy would a engine swap be? i assume mounts might be dif, but will it still bolt onto the MQ gearbox? and will i need to use 12v glowplugs running from my converter? or can ya get 24v ones to fit this engine??
