hi all, would it be possible to have 2 uhf ariels spliced into the ariel lead on the radio. each a diffrent gain.

yes it is with a splitter! but with a splitter you will also loose power going out!

What is your reason for doing this

A splitter only allows you to use 1 aerial at a time, if you wired both up at the same time your impedance would be wrong and you will do damage to your radios, technically it is possible but not worth the effort, they used to do it with the old AM CB to create funky ground planes and get huge skip (or something)

dont forget that if your using 2 antennas then it will become directional

thats why i sugested a splitter rather than 2 arials wired together! using 2 arials at once doesnt make sense unless there co-phased and even then in a mobile situation would be silly!

the reason i asked was cause i live in a pretty hilly area, but when i go out on the flats i sort of lack the range. i have a 3db ariel n a older sundowner uhf
