hi all, would it be possible to have 2 uhf ariels spliced into the ariel lead on the radio. each a diffrent gain.
A splitter only allows you to use 1 aerial at a time, if you wired both up at the same time your impedance would be wrong and you will do damage to your radios, technically it is possible but not worth the effort, they used to do it with the old AM CB to create funky ground planes and get huge skip (or something)familybus wrote:yes it is with a splitter! but with a splitter you will also loose power going out!
thats why i sugested a splitter rather than 2 arials wired together! using 2 arials at once doesnt make sense unless there co-phased and even then in a mobile situation would be silly!Jaffa wrote:A splitter only allows you to use 1 aerial at a time, if you wired both up at the same time your impedance would be wrong and you will do damage to your radios, technically it is possible but not worth the effort, they used to do it with the old AM CB to create funky ground planes and get huge skip (or something)familybus wrote:yes it is with a splitter! but with a splitter you will also loose power going out!
