BAD Scrubbing!

Ok guys, well I've got to the point of lifting the Vitara and all that goes with it and have bad scrubbing issues at flex.

I have a LWB vitara with "Raised" king springs, 25mm body lift and 30" tyres mounted on 15x7s with a -15mm offset. The othe guys seem to have no trouble with scrubbing and are 20mmish higher in suspension.

My tyres rub on the outer lip of the rear guards and on the firewall on the front. under compression but not on the road. I have done as much guard bashing as possible and they still scrub. I carved up my new muddies today testing it.

My question is, If I go 30mm coil spacers won't it still rub on flex as the tyres will follow the same arc or will the arc of tyre swing be 30mm lower?

Thanks, Ben

could stop it but it depends on the springs your tyers might be acting as a bump stop ... so by increasing the hieght it will just flex more

if your worried about tyers rubbing i suggest extending your bump stops

or get one of these

Ben

I can only assume the King springs have not given you enough raise.

When I did mine, I used the original springs and 50mm coil spacers at the rear and 30mm coil spacers at the front. This leveled the car nicely, however since fitting the winch I have a slightly nose down stance now.

After I did this I went and got the exact same tire and wheel package you have and I sliced up my brand new 30" Maxxis mudders good and proper on the outer rear lip of the guards :bad-words: :bad-words: .

I rolled the lip of the guards and still found it scrubbed  . This is when I put in the 25mm body lift and this was enough to allow the tyres to articulate to the bumpstops without hitting anything     .

As far as the front goes, I tossed the mudflaps when I found the tyres were rubbing after the suspension lift but before the body lift.

I now have no scrubbing anywhere with full articulation (Toyota cressida monroe shocks at rear and flipped strut mounts with stock struts at front).

I can only assume from what you're saying that your springs have not given you enough lift to allow the tyres to arc within the guards. My suggestion is do 30mm spacers at the back and 15mm spacers at the front (make sure you ditch the standard rear shocks for something longer and flip the front strut mounts at least), and ditch the front mudflaps as well.

To 'fix' the cut tyres after I made sure everything was okay with the lift I've got and there was no scrubbing, I had my tyre mate flip the tyres on the rims so the cut sides were inside (makes me feel better even though it doesn't go any better).

Cheers

Thanks mate, I know how yu feel about cutting up nice new tyres  I'll go the coil spacers then. Their $120 for the set delivered to my door which seams alright so im ordering them.

Also, are your springs loose with the cressida shocks?

Yes, the rear coils do get loose so I have cable tied them to the bottom mount and let the tops of the coils relocate if they do get loose. Not the best, and I am looking at maybe getting some Kings springs as well. That way I'll get some more lift as well. How high did the kings alone make your Suzuki lift up?

honestly mate, go the Custom Kings, mine were about 25mm if that over the stock height but with the custom ones you can go higher.

I might look for a rear shock 60mm longer then stock length.
