Finished my custom Rear Bar & Rockslides

Post by revnkev »

Well I've finished my rear bar and rockslides, at last :)

Both bar and slides have air tanks built into them,
hav'nt connected them all together yet, will probably
wait until I get the air con compressor set up.
The rear bar alone holds enough air to take my rear
tyres from 20 psi to 30 psi when filled to 110 psi.
About the only thing I have to change is the mudflap mounts,
think I'll hinge them as they get bent too easy.
You can check out some pic's on my updated 'Lame' website :)

mate your tjm bar... is it alloy or steel? And, what's your opinion of the quality of it say versus the ARB offering.... I ask as I'm considering one myself.

Harvey, it's a steel bar and it seems to be well made, can't coment
about the ARB one as I've never compared them, the TJM was on
the Paj when I bought it .

Revnkev another question for you... I really like what you've done to the rear cargo area. This be great for me as it'd not only help with storage but seperate the dogs when they accompany us. So... did you do this yourself or buy the set up? If you did it yourself do you have any step by step instructions to hand?

Thanks
Harv.

Harvey,
I made the storage area up myself, just bent up the two
panels from 12mm square tube then welded the gal mesh on etc
Remember to weld the mesh to the rear side of the front barrier so
that the load is'nt only taken by the welds.
The rest is made from ply and covered with auto carpet from
Bunnings.I tend to have an idea in my head and just go for it :)
I made use of the existing mounting points as much as possible.
Having a bro in law with tube benders and welders etc helps a lot.
Mines a bit different because I needed to seat 6.
Hope this is some help to you,
Kev.
