Outer Limits 4x4 Board

First of probably many questions after just purchasing the zook. I searched and got some info from other people who had the same problems and it seems that the best fix is to just give the carby a good cleaning over.

I think that i could handle that quite well. Though people talk of the "airbox" in the putting your hand over the intake and getting it covered in the good kind of dirt trick.

I'm not 100% on identifying the airbox, as my only other 4x4 was an EFI. I took a pic just before to get some clarification, and circled the two main parts as to which it could be. The one on the right is the carby, the one on the left is the airbox. Just need a little nudge in the right direction.

Correct - airbox/cleaner on the inner guard. Carby on the engine.
If you want to try the hand over the carb trick to clear the jets etc, start by removing the pipe to the airbox from the carby. Fold a rag so its just a bit bigger than your hand.
Start engine and flick throttle to full.
When engine is near full revs cover top of carby with rag so no air gets in, keeping throttle on full.
When engine is just about stalled remove the rag and let revs increase, repeat two or three times. Should clear any partially blocked bits.

Id start by giving the engine a good degrease. But your problems are most likely the float level. These carbies are very easy to work on. If you feel up to it, pull it out and give it a proper clean and adjust.

doesn't look like a 5k to me. Mine had the carby on the other side I think. Also you may want to do something about the air intake because where it is now is just going to suck water in if you go through a puddle or any sort of water

Looks like a 3K, 4K, 5K to me. Slant engine non crossflow, inlet bolts to exhaust manifold for heating.
