Lifted & custom fuel tank info for sierra's

Does anyone have threads on this topic? There's nothing in the Sierra bible & I know I've seen a few pics etc over the years of what ppl have done with utes (ie. fuel cells) but not hard tops... Have done a search with many various keywords and come up with 3000 irrelevant results, just too many to wade through.
Basically looking for ideas for a custom fuel tank to suit 2" body lifted zook, or ideas on what to do with the fuel filler on the current tank once lifted (make hole through chassis & weld tube to make tunnel?)
Any ideas or pics would be cool.... If not, I'll figure it out
Thx, Jo

Depends on how much mods u want to do.
a vit tank will fit up there and someone one here has cut there floor out and fitted it so the seems where level with the back floor and then custom cover over the top.
If to fit under floor a vit tank may work but not sure on filler point.

I looked at a tank from a Suzi carry van. From memory its 650 long by 350 by 160mm. I'm pretty sure it will fit between the chassis rails but definately won't hang as low as stock. The connections all look the same - even the sender has the same plug! The original fuel tank supports will have to be removed and replaced, but if you mount it hard against the floor, there is just enough room for ther filler to go ABOVE the chassis rail. The exhaust may have to be rerouted slightly. I wonder why Suzuki didn't use the carry tank to start with its the same 40L.

Cool, thanks guys. I have some alternate tank options from other vehicles then, so getting a custom made one might be last option. At the moment the floor is out & everything is bare to start work on. The plan is to lift the floor to clear the custom shock mounts & lift the tank at this stage - there's a fair bit of room underneath now but the filler is blocked by the chassis. Carry van tank might be good option, or I'll check where the vitara filler is located. Cheers

They were the threads I was trying to find!
I'd seen them before but buggered if I could find them again.
Thanks again Nic

With the efi vitara tanks, can you use them with carby sierras? Are the fuel pumps external of the tanks, so you just hook it up normally?
Finding both vitaras and carryvans at wreckers is proving to be difficult. I would just lift standard sierra tank and mod the filler but its lost at least a third capacity from rocks so not worth it, need extended range, specially since the ShortyIQ things getting 22l per 100km on highway.
