Outer Limits 4x4 Board

I have myself a great car in the 83 Cherokee - lots of power for towing etc, but it's lacking on the open roads, I'm wanting to upgrade my transmission, but know nothing at this stage. Currently has Turbo 400 with Shift kit and B&M shifter\ and 208 tranny.
My question, is there a 4 speed box I can drop in place of the 3.
Economy is not the goal, more just cruising comfort and less stree on the engine for the trips outback etc.
Any advice from anyone would be very much appreciated.
Or point in the right direction - northside Brisbane.

If you have a TH400, surely a TH700 would be a relatively easy swap in?

Wooders - thanks for the advice - Not knowing anything about transmissions it's given me a plce to start.

Hi I have a o/drive unit bolts to 208 usa american eagle overdrive
suits N.P. 208 Transfer Case.

I thought they had Torqueflyte trannys. Does yours have the AMC 360 engine? I did a cam and exhaust one one of them years ago and it really woke it up.

hi if you have a t-400 to new process 208 your lucky a t-700 4 speed will bolt straight in all you might have to do is move the cross member an inch or 2!! and change your shifter..
