80 series GXL Tyre/Wheel Issue - Bloody on going sagga

Can l successfully use 16 x 7 rims with 934 (approx 9" wide) super swamper tyres on such a heavy vehicle without any problems? Has anyone had experience with thin tyres on a 80?
The standard width tyre was l approx 10.5" wide, and l want to know whether the width of the tyre is going to make difference?
l have tried the super swamper 934, with tubes on the standard 16 x 8 rims but found they ran excesively hot at about 38 - 40 psi and blew a tube in one as a result. l relize the 934 swamper is not a good fit for the 16 x 8....
l currently run MT FC11 33" for AT's and the swampers is my second set.
Any advice appreciated. Thanks Barn
