sorry to bother you all again :S
im after a good company to insure my cruiser with. The problem i have been facing is that after i have been spending all this money on her engine and gearbox wise, and now suspension wise, i need an insurer that lets me name an agreed value.
I have tried a few that do agreed values but they still wont let the agreed value be higher then the market value (which is only $7100) because of the age of the car, which i cant understand :S
any help would be appreciated,
cheers,
CW

There are a few insurance brokers around that will be able to get your vehicle and accessories covered for what they are worth or for an agreed value. I have my 97 GQ insured for $12,000 with another $12,000 of accessories on it. A few I can think of are:
DGA Insurance Brokers -
www.dgainsurance.com.au
TCIS Insurance Brokers -
www.tcis.com.au
OAMPS Bushtrack insurance -
http://www.oamps.com.au/Products/defaul ... oductID=24
Also try the 4wd association in your state. I know the vic association has a pretty good scheme with Affinity Risk Partners in Melb also.

TCIS is the better one, last time i checked my DGA policy before i canned it they dont care what mods are on the car they just dont insure the mods or extras, was in very very fine print.

Maybe try Shannons, they insured my 92 GQ for $20,000 agreed value. Market value was 8,000.

Can one of you GQ owners give me some idea of the yearly premium you are paying to insure your car?? I have a 1990 GQ... Just a rough idea and the amount it is insured for, for comparison..
Cheers,

about $920pa. that was with a first buy back guarantee in the contract.
NRMA wont give you first buy back option
No matter what you insure it for make sure you read the PDS regarding first buy back or you could the lot over some pissy little nose to tail.

Mine is a 1997 GQ and I have the vehcile insured for $14,000 and then $10,000 of accessories/mods on top of that. Mine is placed by a broker and underwritten by Zurich and I am paying $502.00 for full comp.
I have shopped around and no one can get close to it. The best I got elsewhere was about $750.00 and a lot of underwriters were only prepared to cover the vehicle for market value only which is about $10,000 - $12,000.
