How Long Would You Wait??

If you ordered and paid for a steering arm that didnt fit, and sent it back to the manufacturer along with a brake caliper to be sure it came back correct, how long would you expect it to take to be made and shipped back to you?

who knows? maybe if we knew from where to where? What size company? Is it an off the shelf item or a custom made piece? What time frame were you told?

where- from NSW to WA
what size company - small
it was supposed to be off the shelf, but modified to fit a larger caliper - but it still didnt fit so ended up being a custom made order.
I have PM's and PM's on here promising "you'll have it next week" ... i've waited a year and a half now....
i dont want it to get to the stage where ill have to involve the ACCC or something to get my caliper and my money back, and send back the drag-link. I just want a steering arm that fits and is legal.

Back on topic, have you put anything in writing? If not i would, send it registered post (you'll get something back to say they've received it).
In this letter i would:
1. Explain your interpretation of the deal. eg. I ordered xx to suit xx you said you could supply for $xx
2. On Date xx you supplied the wrong part, i advised you on date that it was incorrect, you said ......., i then sent it back on date, i called you on date, i PM'd you on date
3. A time to allow them to respond to you (7 days from receipt of letter) and a time for them to either refund you in full (including the postage back to them) or supply you the part (say 14 days from receipt of letter).
4. If this is not accepted by the shop then forward the letter to Consumer Affairs.

I tried calling both a mobile number and a landline and got answering machines on both...

i know who ur refering to i have no advice except good luck
i thought he was a decent mate but after being owed over $1000
dollars for over a year and constantly getting yeh ill get u the money
i now think differnt
even still i couldnt get my money back and had to get work done there to get My money back

im in a similar situation.
owed money by a "mate" (about 1300 bucks) for nearly a year
ring him everyweek and get "oh yea, on friday"
friday comes around. doesn't turn up or answer his phone.
and if on the RARE chance he does turn up, hes only got like 100 bucks with him.
makes me so freakin angry. i hate wasting my time dealing with deadbeats.
ya try and be nice, generous,whatever but in the end ya have to look out for number 1. same deal with camping....

Well, its been well over a month since my caliper and steering arm were "sent" to me... Calling Toll Ipec reveals the consignment number i was given doesnt even exist, and the supplier in question is not answering his mobile or landline (again).
ARGH!!!
I think its time for the ACCC to get involved, or should i try settle this directly with the supplier still? - what do you all think?

Send emails/phone and keep log of when called etc, if no joy inc PMs on here then go the accc i would say.

This is ridiculous mate - im always sorry to hear stories like this.
I agree with Jim - put in the letter that if they dont respond by a certain date then you will go to the accc or get lawyers involved or something like that...
If you have a mate who is a lawyer or works at a law firm maybe u could get them to send a letter on their letter head to scare them into action.
But definitely by registered post.

When I read the heading I thought it must be someone else having probs I cant believe your STILL waiting!!
Do you know anyone close to this person or maybe someone from here to see them in person.
Surely if it goes on much longer you should be able to name the company so no one else has the same probs.

This situation really sucks and would wish it on no one.
Naming them on here or any public forum would likely lead to a counter claim for defamation bud, it gets tricky and frustrating when in this situation. I've got a fair idea what he's going through...

Its not defamation if its true. Alien hasn't critisised them really anyhow. He has just explained a situation and asked what people think he should do. I say name them. If others have had the same experience as well then it wont be a problem.

I understand its not ethical to bad mouth a business but I think he,s being screwed over and if they are not going to rectify the problem whats wrong with naming the business that gave you such bad service?
Isnt that why people strive to acced the customers expectations, because not only do they go away feeling happy with the service and will definatley go back they will also recomend them to others and the cycle starts again.
So bad service should be rewarded in the same way.

That's fair enough, my situation involved my rig, not just a part- so I guess it's a lil' different. Perhaps those wanting to know could PM alien rather than put it on the thread? What do you think Jim? Or is this situation completely different to my previous experience?

I wont be telling people via PM who it is, 99.9% of the guys on here seem to know exactly who im talking about anyway... which is certainly not speaking wonders for this suppliers reputation!

how about letting us newbi's know who it is so we wont get ripped off lets start a post of the worst bisnesses like they do on zuwherri [wish i could spell and use a keyboard at the same time]

you can't do that for a whole bunch of reasons and one being it could land the owners of this site in legal trouble. also there is a thing called defamation laws.
Much better to start a list of the places that offer great service and products. The bad places will eventually feel the effect if they don't get any referals etc

Surely you cant get in legal trouble for saying where you got bad service?
This is rediculous that this has gone on for so long.
I would be very pissed to be in that situation even more so now that it hints on here that its a company we all know. What do we do just stop going to all well known shops or run the risk of being screwed because people didnt speak up.
This shop deserves all the bad publicity they get.
Not having a go at anyone this is just MY veiw on the situation.
