engine mods on a TD42

hey guys ive got a GQ SWB with a TD42 with a turbo on the way soon just wondering what else i can spend my upcoming tax refund on,
is there any other engine mods you can do to a desiel for more power and torque, ive been told you can stroke and bore them out but it cost mega dollars, is this true? and i dont want to be told to just get a V8 cos i love my river crossings and dams.
