Hey All

A question about CTP classifications in Qld. I have a Nissan GU Patrol 99 model and a Toyota BJ42

The GU is classified as "1" which is cars and station wagons. The BJ42 is classed as a "6" which is a utility etc and is more expensive for the CTP cost.

I spoke to Qld transport and they said it is correct. How can two 4x4's be different? Is it because the BJ is a 3 seater?

strange....

Its stupid. Just gotta live with it.
My 2 door 5 seater rocky is classed as a Panel Van :?

And as such attracts a much higher CTP too. So next time some one whinges about 4wds getting lower import tarrifs or something, tell them to stick a CTP in the pipe n smoke it.

On the plus side, if you have friends or rello's who live a fair way out of a major city, plug their postcode in as the 'garaged' address and see how much you might be able to save. Lets just say, i'm stoked i'm leaving Sydney b4 rego's due

Just be thankful you don't live in ACT.
We dont get a choice for CTP its just with NRMA

GU Wagon in ACT rego = $760 inc CTP

GU UTE in ACT rego = $2000 inc CTP

GU UTE in NSW rego inc CTP = $570 (aami for CTP)
GU UTE in NSW rego inc CTP = $590 (NRMA for CTP)

NRMA charges an extra $240 for the same vehicle CTP in ACT than they do in NSW
ACT any goods carrying vehicle gets hit with commercial rego charges based on weight... good thing I have a place in NSW to REGO the ute....

ACT Rego costs ... http://www.rego.act.gov.au/registration ... g_vehicles

FAAAARRRK!!!!

It's a wonder ANYBODY registers their vehicles in ACT. You could almost pay for a room in share accomodation for a year for that just to save on reg if you had 2 or more vehicles.
