hi all, after some ideas for mounting a fire extinguisher in a LWB GQ. Where have you put yours? I thought I found a nice little posi down on side of driver seats mount, but I've got a large'ist bottle (1kg), doesnt look like it would fit with door closed. I reacon the preferable location is near driver/front of cabin, but what do you think???
thanks for all input...

yea, have heard that quite a few ppl have em on cargo barrier, but 1) dont have cargo barrier & 2) think thats little out of the way (when loaded up) - reacon you want it REAL close & convinient...

Hi all,
I screwed mine to the rear of the centre console. It might be slightly in the way of the middle rear passenger but it's easily accessable from anywhere in the front of the car.
Just my 2c
Cheers

so a little fire extinguisher would of been useless anyway - damn...
So what caused the fire?

A 1kg is not realy big enough for any more than a small fire. I carry a 1kg for every day use but if going on a trip always carry a 2.5kg dry chem and on longer trips sometimes a 9kg water especialy if driving in long grass and the like that can catch around the exhaust . As fir mounting them i have the 1kg in the passenger foot well and having a ute makes it easy to find a spot for the others but they are always easy to access.

i mounted mine on the floor in front of the drivers seat. across the width of the seat it doesnt interfere in the foot. never hit it before. would be an iodea to have 1 in reach of passenger too

As with any powder extinguisher, they need to be taken out and turned up side down every couple of months and given a good shake up. If left the powder will pack in the bottom of the bottle and all you will get is the propllent when you really want all the contents. Every time you service your rig don't forget the extinguisher as well. Don't get caught out like I did, it was only after my son in law (a fireman) told me why the extinguisher did not do its job.

Right in front of the seat running across the floor is a top spot.
I have a second mounted in the rear as well but that can only be accessed when back doors are open.
