Yep, had the same problem with mine. If you get a plug in turbo timer from nissan it will apparently fix the problem. Mine is a 2005 4.2 TDI coilcab ute. I have an aftermarket timer and after numerous runins with nissan over it, i cut the wires at the sub tank pump, removed the sub tank switch and hard wired a rocker switch to the pump. Problem solved, you just have to make sure you watch the gauge and turn it off as it is no longer auto switch off. Mine has been like it for about 18 months with no drama's.

I spend quite a lot of time out west and can't afford to have the sub tank let me down. Nissan has forever had sub tank switch drama's with their patrols.

Hope this helps........................Pete!

thanks Gruntahunta, but i was hoping that wouldnt be the case. after reading the manual i realised the sub tank switch is quite a sophisticated unit. but cannot understand why a turbo timer would interfere.

im going to ring nissan today and see what they have to say. otherwise ill have a chat to an auto elec friend. but im in the same boat, i NEED my sub tank in working order.

Im an auto elec and had a customers car come in with a sub tank problem which sounds the same.. the customer had fitted a cheap autobarn turbo timer and this was what was causing the fault, we removed it and fitted one of our boggard turbo timers and the problem went away... what brand turbo timer are you using?

Hi RR85,
Can i ask why the Bogard timer is different? Don't they all do the same job or is the Bogard a plug in jobbie. Not being a smartarse, just interested to know that's all. Nissan told me you had to have some special plug in job only available from them.....at some ridiculous price of course!

Cheers................Pete! :D
