thinking bout getting some shackles made up do myself what grade of steel is to be used it will be for a sierra

Obviously there is some confusion over the word shackles. I'm thinking you mean spring shackles in which case 10mm mild steel as said will be good.

If on the other hand you mean recovery shackles then as a wise Mafia boss once said.....forget about it.

do a search of the zook section. 6mmm u channel or flat bar is ok or 8mm flat.

yeah, the ones I made for my cruiser are 10mm, I guess u dont need that gauge for an itty bitty zook. :D

Pins should be 4130 or equivalent, induction hardened.
Mild steel plate is OK for sides.

i bent 8mm flat on my zuk(shackle reversed so it was not from banging them on rocks)

but it got into some pretty awkward places :lol:
