Two questions regarding reverse on a gq.
I read that reverse gear is synchromeshed. What does that mean as I understand most vehicles dont have synchromesh on reverse?

Also my friends' gq ute have a beeping sound (like a truck) when reversing. Should the wagon have that too? Mine doesnt

They do not come stock with a reverse warning. But if you mate bought it 2nd hand, then chances are it was installed before for someone to use on building site/mine etc. Synchromeshing allows smoother changes, by using a synchro ring to allow the dog teeth in the gear-box to align before sliding over each other and engaging. A quick google search will reveal how a gearbox works and how synchro's work.
