Droop Stop Question

Provided that the CVs are at a comfortable angle, will there be much of a problem with jacking the front of an IFS (obviously) vehicle until the rubber is -just- touching the droop stop?

Asking from 2 perspectives: on-road handling and behaviour, and tyre wear and alignment.

For more details, see http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/viewtopic.php?t=108626 in Mitsi section, but it's really an IFS question, so i thought I'd ask here also. If this is inappropriate, please let me know or remove...

Firstly, what vehicle? I assume from your description you're running a vehicle with torsion bars?

If so, it'll feel terrible on road and worse off road.... hard as a rock. Lots of fun on corrugations

Depending on the specific vehicle setup, you shouldn't have too many issues with alignment or camber, but the ride will be terrible and you'll probably find yourself going through idler arm bushes/bearings a lot quicker than normal.

You can shave a little off the lower bumpstops on some IFS vehicles for more down travel, but that won't fix the other issues created by jacking it up too high.

As I mentioned in the other post, it's a '98 Challenger.

The thing is, I did on sat, and have been driving a bit (no off road...) since, but no really noticable ill-effects. There's more thumping from the rear, like the rebound is under-damped, than anything noticable from the front.

Not sure where the rear is wrt bump-stops.
.... hard as a rock
Not sure what you mean. It's just (about) as compliant in compression, inspite of the effectively increased preload...
