Diesel Conversion is it worth it?

I'm currently looking for 80 series of some sort (orginally wanted a patrol but gave up), and the price of the turbo diesels comapred to the petrols is just crazy. Is it worth getting a petrol and transplanting a 1HDT or 1HDFT into it? For example I was looking at a 92 Sahara petrol for 14,000 with 182,000km on the clock, yet a comparative turbo diesel for the same year I've seen up around the 20-30 grand mark, espically with low Kms. Is it worth doing th conversion? Whats involved if it is worth it?

cheers

A petrol to diesel swap is'nt for the faint hearted to get a workshop to do it would be expensive because of the hours involved and to buy the engine ,exhaust ,loom ,radiator ,engineers report etc etc would soon add up.Far better to buy one that is how the factory intended it to be I M O.

everything is different...the best way to convert them is at the local cartard. There was a limo 80 series on ebay last week....6.5 turbo chev t700 for 13500...lifted 4 inches and engineered/regod

About $14k if you were to use a secondhand history unknown multivalve TD with I/C etc.

and about $10k for 1hz

This is based on my research and that was as far as i went.

its not hard if you got the tools and know how (and LOTS of patience), but it will cost $$$$$
