Defender Suspension

Currently have Kings coils with a 50 mm lift and Rancho 9000 shocks but this combination results in a very harsh ride and the suspension is very stiff overall. What do you blokes reckon is the best spring and shock combination for a Defender to give best allround performance.

Any comments would be appreciated

Rangie spares springs.
Talk to Andrew Richmond regarding the loads you carry in the car.

Bilstien shocks.

Sounds like the springs are too heavy - common problem where people recommend a heavier spring if you want lift - instead of just a taller spring of the same spring rate.
The ranchos are adjustable and I think are pretty soft on their soft setting so might not be the problem

Have a look at this page and see whats available

then get some softer, taller springs. Talking to someone who knows their stuff is worth it, too soft and the truck will be all over the road.

i like longer standard springs (kings) up front with toyota 80 series konis on the softest setting ( bar, no winch)
on the rear the spring depends on the weight.
i will be trying the monroe 14" truch shocks shortly.
the front is comfortable without being to soft and it does flex with sam's slotted bushes.
i don't like the bush alignment on the rear shocks, top or bottom.
search and have a look at rangie spares +30% articulation kit.
the principles are good and you can make most of it yourself.
