G Day,

My old man wants to buy a LWB Patrol and it has a TB42 engine, he wants to do the engine swap. He wants to do it like that because here in Costa Rica it's so difficult to find a Patrol in good shape and more harder is to find it with a TD42 engine. So I have a few questions about this.

1) Does the TD42 would fit straight or some mods has to be done to the engine mounts or into other areas in order to fit it correctly?

2) The gearbox that comes with the TB42 is the same as the one that comes with the TD42?

3) What other major changes do you guys think are involved in this engine swap?

Guys any help and advices, comments and all you can share will be more than welcome....

And by the way, this is the car:

Cheers

A mate of mine (Hoonz) did this a while ago.... radiator will have to be changed over to suit a TD42...... obversly the taco (in dash) will have to be changed over to suit the TD42.... umm cant remember weather the bell housing flange had to be changed over to too..... not sure on that one

if you were to get someone to do the job profesionally i would not expect to much change out of 9k... good luck

Thanks a lot guys.....he wants to change it because here in Costa Rica the difference between Diesel and Gas price is big, so it is much better to have a diesel, and something else is that he loves diesel... :D
