Has been covered before I know, but what do you reckon?
Stick with 24 spline rear axles in the Disco 1, and purchase 2 spares for $300 from wreckers, just in case, or
purchase JacMacs for $770 a pair including new thicker drive flanges???
PS "my JacMacs dont come back" so says John (AKA Mr Personality) at Jack McNamara
PPS already have JacMac lockers and Ashcroft pegged 4.11 R&Ps

I think Dave/GURU has broken a few disco 24 spliners. I have broken a SIII 24 spline axle with a 2.25D!!!

Yeah, Disco 24 splines will definately break. I'd go the JacMac's and not worry about it anymore.
Oh, if Mr Personality isn't helpful, there is always Jeff.

...well...I've changed my purchasing preferences to Maxi Drive.
After battling with JM for 1.5days (no prompt phone-back, no email response at all, and a bit of 'attitude' to boot - which I can normally laugh at), I was running out of time to resolve fears about breaking rear axles.
So running out of patience I rang MD. Never dealt with them before, but I can see why they are so popular. The issue was sorted, same price, and the package was on its way within 5 minutes, COD. Could not have been simpler and more friendly.
The Disco is truley a bitsa now...........
.......Geez, I wish JM was easier on the patience:)

JM would do a hell of a lot better if they kept Jeff away from the phone and put on somebody with at least a trace of people skill.

Jeff is OK....but only just.
You really need to pester these guys if you want anything out of them......
I went in there in 1995 ....for a bolt operated diff lock, for a series 3.....I'm still waiting for a phone call.
I've been in since....for rear axles.....after many phone calls.......got what I wanted....but I wont do it again.

They are very old school in there, old machinary, old computers (they do email back it just takes awhile), phone service terrible. You need to walk in there with CASH in hand and know exactly what you want. Yes they do need someone in sales with a better customer service attitude, but they do make good stuff.

6.4 Rangie is exactly right - that's how I 'obtained' the last parts from them, and that's OK is you are in the neighbourhood, or have someone over there at the time - as we did back then.
But when you are the other side of Bass Straight, and reliant on 'technolgy' to communicate and pay - they are outdated to expect customers to put up with the old style take it or leave it treatment. I've even seen comments on Pirates to the same effect, so how many customers are they losing despite their excellent workmanship?
Ah well, i'm over them
Maxis should be here Monday
