G16B Flat spot around 3000rpm when cold

Just wondering I have a 1994 vitara with a G16B with 170,000kms on it. Is it typical while cold to have a flat spot between 2600-3200 rpm then pull like a freight train (as much as a 1.6L does) after about 3300?

Is the 94 efi or carb ?

mine did, ws dodgy ignition and cam timing (yes I know they are linked) from a chopped out key on the bottom pulley

I have that model, it runs fine cold...atleast as fine as I would expect from a cold, gutless motor
