as it says, what can i put in a MQ that would bolt in reasonably easy?
the SD33 needs an exy rebuild and im looking at the option of just getting another engine if its cheaper. must be diesel and have at least as much grunt as the sd33... ideas?

Damn, when I saw the subject line I was going to make the same joke.
Except it's not a joke... they're a great motor.
If that doesn't grab you, I'd look at a 302 windsor, or a ford straight 6, maybe EF/EL falcon injected motor.
Either should fit okay. A wrecked EF or EL, even a dual fuel one, shouldn't set you back very much at all. Adaptors come from Dellow Auto.
Or XF or so if you want something even cheaper.

macca, for what your gonna spend on a heart transplant personnaly i wouldn't bother! id go and buy a GQ! you be damn near close to buy a complete car for what a minor rebuild or a transplant will cost.
othwerise if for some reason you are attatched to your mq\k, then maybe a TD42 with gq box and transfer or a chev diesel.
cheers

Not meaning to be smart but would it be worth your while buying a Rolled GQ and swapping the body ? Or just buying a GQ ?
Coils, 4.2L TD and stronger diffs ?
Only resaon I say it is I looked at every option with a MQ then a Zook and it was basically going to mostly GQ buy the time I finished with it so I just bought a GQ LWB 4.2L TD. Only cost me $4k because the body is rough, but didnt have any rust.
Cheers Nick

yeah look, i understand its gunna b exy, but as iv only hat the mq for about 3 months im not that keen to get rid of it compleatly... tho the idea is goin thru my mind to get a cruiser or sumthin then work on the mq slowly as a long term project... body chop and make it a tray, spring over, lift body and sus, lockers etc etc etc... makes it a 4wd dedicated vehicle rather than a daily

1/
remove the number plates from ya rig and pack em in ya overnight bag
2/
get on the boat or plane and get to melbourne.....
3/
take a train ride to my joint
4/
buy either of the 2 SD33 powered YELLOW patrols I'm getting rid of
( hell I'll even throw in a heap of engine spares for ya )
5/
drive back to melbourne
( using your rego plates form your yellow patrol on my yellow patrol )
6/
put you and the patrol on the boat back to Tassie
7/
then you would have heaps of spares AND a good motor too
