I have a mate that builds super sedan and sprintcar engines n he said that deisel port are very refined n not to bother with them cos there was not a huge gain to be had, but you could look into extrusion honing if you wanted to. If you where to just hack into them with a die grinder you will loose airflow or create turbulence, the ports need to have a certain ruffness

its a standard bottom end at moment. to upgrade to turbo pistons I need to do rods + other bits and pieces but no one can tell me what are better pistons than standard with out going to the turbo ones. Turbo ones need different rods cause the gudgen pin is bigger.
$$ is the problem.

done it. took sometime as there is heaps of room for improvment as the head bolts have a large casting around them and took a lot off around the inside of the bend made a big diffrence to pick up down low

check thread on td42 rebuild down thread or two

So far as I am aware there is a 28mm and a 30mm little end rod pin. The 28mm piston is available with reinforced top ring groove and struts as per turbo, don't know for sure but I beleive the turbo crank may be different also???
I've made 150 rwkw on the non turbo engine, still going 4-5 years

what is done to the motor you built with 145kw? I have heard that a petrol cam in them can make a difference is this true? does any one know?
I have the 28mm piston with re inforced ring at moment. The bores are a bit glazed but piston look good for 500k
