LWB vs SWB

What do you guys reckon are the relative strengths and weaknesses of both platforms, when it comes to hitting the dirt?

I've never wheeled a LWB, but have pounded the piss out of first a 4banger and then a V6 shortie for 10 years...

My latest is an LWB, and I'm just wondering what to expect in terms of performance? I'm aware of the poorer departure angle, and I'm sure I'll clip a few curbs on turns, but otherwise? :?:

BTW, this is for GenI Paj's.

Good question Phil, but I think it's an unanswerable one though as it depends on the type of terrain you drive.
Basically a swb (either Gen 1 or 2) has much better ramp over and departure angles than their lwb counterparts.
However wheelbase length can play a huge role in vehicle stability depending on the type of terrain you drive.
I've seen swb Paj's look very unstable and tippy in deeply rutted tracks where a lwb did it easily.
But a swb can negotiate itself around tighter tracks and obstacles much better. Though a lwb is more stable (front won't kick up as much) on very steep hillclimbs due to the extra wheelbase length.
For me the lwb works better, can store more crap and accessories, more room and only once has a swb got through an obstacle that I couldn't.
I know Lloyd would disagree but he drives much different terrain than me.
Once you get some wheelin time behind your lwb you will be able to assess it and give us your opinions :D

I find the SWB's, despite having better ramp over angle, definitely compensate overall stability, specially when u start lifting them...
