hey guys
a friend of mine owns a 85 paj, he is lookin to raise it and was goin to just max out the tortions, but i would prefer to see him to use ball join spacers, (same idea as the surf/4runner) and i am wondering he can buy these from a store as a bolt on modification or do they need to b made up? also what stores?

Usually custom made. The ball joint will only be held in place by three bolts if he does this mod, some people drill them out to a larger dia bolt. Few people say it is dangerous.

Can't be done on a Gen 1 Paj as the balljoint is pressed into the upper wishbone.
The Gen 2 has the bolt in upper balljoints (3 bolts) that can be flipped or a spacer used.

Dont bother with the lift, just get the angle grinder out, lot cheaper and you dont loose your articulation from cranking the torsion bars to the max.
Body lift if you really need to, but 2" body lift and angle grinder can make room for 35's on an early paj so 33's might fit without even a body lift just lots of angle grinder love.

Flex - you can get flex with a bit of trimming here and there
I had a 89 Gen 1, at full stuff the 31's tucked up inside the guards (my bump stops were shaved a bit), so the 33's will foul on the front guards at full flex ( I put the 33's on briefly before I got the Gen2 in the pic) without a bit of a body lift, or some sort of fender flare similar to the gen2 where you can cut the metal behind it (you will need flares of some sort, as properly spaced to clear the chassis/steering box/innerguards at full steering lock the tyres will stick out about 30mm or so (Safari rims have about the right spacing)
