not a good idear..
we all know how good the patrol lsd works, so imagine driving with a front locker all the time! On road would most prob cause bad tyre wear and front end problems!
Off road i couldn't see a prob..best off getting a locker!
Best of both worlds

You won't be able to fit a gq lsd in the front for starters and Besides on road the hubs would be unlocked causing no operation of the lsd anyway .
Now Mq's, 1996 pathfinder, 1989 navara, and some others have the same diff in the rear as gq's and mavs have in the front. Get an lsd out of one of these,(you only need the hemisphere) have the crownwheel holes machined out to the correct size (you cant just drill them) fit your crownwheel and fit her back up, they work a treat. Like a soft locker. The advantage of these is they will let go (slip) if they get to much mumbo. saving cv's etc.

I stuck a rear Navara LSD (correct splines) into the front of a mates GQ and it works well in mud, not as effective on big articulating rock, it was a cheaper option than a locker, I wasn't keen on him having a detroit style in the front for driveability reasons. Many FWD manufacturers have had LSD for years with sucess, driveability is actually better. (Nissan SSS N13 pulsar, Volvo T5R, Audi, just to name a couple). It does help but its not as good as an air locker by any stretch.

The later model pathfinders & Navaras bolt straight in. No need to machine the crownwheel holes. Shimmed a little and they work a treat. Manual hubs required. Good for tight tracks.

had an LSD in the front of my GQ, striaght bolt in job from a later 90's pathfinder

worked great. Steering was much lighter than having a locker (even an auto locker) and pulled the car out more often.

was a great set up.

i still broke hubs and cv's with it though, but that was backing up a hill.

i highly recomend it.

although if you can afford a locker, go that route
