Outer Limits 4x4 Board

I did a 1.6 conversion using BenT kit (thanks Ben A++ kit),
The motor was getting a bit hot. I read on outer limits that with a little mods to brackets it will fit and using 1.6 shroud. overall it was not hard, just a lot of putting it in then pull it out to get it sitting just right. I had to cut little into the bonnet as well. Works well!!!

I have mucked around with modifying radiators and thermo's and I found that spend the money once and put a BIG radiator in or the radiator that was factory made for that engine you just put in in your 4x4

steering box side, I cut and shaped the vitara bracket and welded it to the sierra bracket. That way the whole bracket can be unbolted to get to the steering box.(was welding in the dark so got a bit messy)





Left hand side sierra bracket was unbolted and the vitara bracket was trimmed down, a 5mm plate was welded to it for strength and so I could get a good weld to the chassis.

nice one mate. have you taken it for a drive yet? if so how did it go with the bigger radiator?

have u got a body lift in the sierra at all.

Good mod, i will see how the 1.3 rad goes with the 1.6 and may have to do this mod later on.

hows the rad hoses line up?

I have been driving it for a week and a half now and it works like standard

I have no body lift , but if you have a body lift an inch or 2 inch would help to clear the bonnet.
I used the standard sierra hoses.

here is where the air filter rubs , I have been looking for a small scoop that would look good, but no luck

looks good.

do a small bonnet lift with the screw at the back of the bonnet, should clear it enough.

The engine runs every well but at idle is crap, the revs are up and down.
The 1.6 idle was good when it was in the Vitara.
Do these wires need to be connected , one is a 3 wire plug ( blue) and the other is a 4 wire plug ( green )




And what does these do?





I can work most things out myself, but I am a bit stuck here!

last two look like emissions crap but the first two is the idle solinoid.

do you have any other power wires going to the carb? if not these need to be connected.

That is the only wire to the carbi

I have tube connected that goes to the idle up for when I turn the lights on, that one works. But plug is not shown in photo

I had the same idleing trouble with mine. I only used 2 wires out of the 4 in the plug. Cant remember which though. Ran 1 to earth and the other to a power source, I used a wire of the alternator as it only has power when the alternator is spinning.
Looks like the vit radiator will do the job nicely. I got a new sierra one but it was better than the original as it has 12 more tubes and 2 more cooling fins per inch so it should be more effective.

I wont see my pride and joy till saturday but I think?? It was the top 2 wires. I will let you know as soon as possible. Man that was a headache I had seirra and vitara wiring diagrams spread out trying to trace it.

Thank you Nik, It worked !!!!!!!
The engine idles at 1000 rpm a little high but that is as low as I can get it to idle.
Will have a another try tomorrow, maybe it is the timing.

Glad I could help. I tried everything for mine even pulled the carb apart then in frustration took it to a mechanic.
