Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Hi all, well I thought it was going too good until today my power steering dumped itself on the driveway after driving. It's leaking pretty quickly. I've tried the Lucan Leakstop and have the Nulon one going now. Also brake fluid did nothing.

I'm not too keen on driving far with the way it's leaking but I hope the Nulon does something.

How would I be best to rebild/replace my power steering box? Does anyone know of a second hand one somewhere which doesn't leak?

It's a Vitara and certain mechanics reacon they can't be rebuilt but im not 100%

Suzuki say replace if it is defective but I have heard that there is a seal that can be replaced for a few dollars. I'm about to have a look at the one in my new swb as it is leaking from the top. There are a couple of different steering boxes though so what may work for one may not work for another.

It looks like I solved my leak. Took the top of the steering box in the car and found that inside the top is a needle roller bearing (watch out as the needles can fallout, luckily mine landed on the driveway and not in the steering box) and above that is a rubber o-ring type of seal that has obviously worn a little letting the oil force it's way past under pressure. I put the top back on the box and got a small o-ring (approx. 10mm OD and 1mm thick and put that on the shaft and tightened the nut back down. Topped up the oil and took it for a drive and no more leak

For those looking at the seal at the bottom here is some info I got from a forum in NZ that may be of help.

"Just now retreaved the old seal from the shed.
Note. This is for a power sterring box.
It reads KOYO - OP MHSAF 18.7 35 7P 25.
But it measures slightly diffrent.
18.7mm could be the inside, 34mm could be the outside, 7mm could be the thickness. 25 dont know.
A bit strange it only measures 34mm when it has 35 printed on it.
If you get a bunch of seals with similar dimentions im sure one would fit. Or take it to the man, get it done right , then no worries. "

Thanks for that mate, I'll have a look at it. I think it's out of the seal where the splined steering shaft goes in. Maybee my bodylift affected it.
