gearbox and transfer are different, also diff ratios could be a problem on 31s but nice with 35s

I understood they were a lighter gearbox and transfer, but hey, I am probably wrong :P

the diff's will be 3.9's, no real differance between a TD 4.2. The transfer is the same! and the gear box bell housing is different and gear boxs uses a slightly different ratio, I think. Again no big deal. the engine mountings to the chassis are different , cheers Phill.
p/s zd 30's are cheep to rebuild these days or a compleate short motor is avaiable with the later model pistion, (from nissan) . or even a second hand motor as most series 1's where replaced or rebult,

Why not look at a Chev V8 Diesel conversion from Brunswick... only round $20k drive in drive out..

Is this a ZD30 GU 3lt turbo diesel?
If so. Gearbox and all running gear is the same. May need a TD42T Bellhousing though.
It will have either 4.3 or 4.6 diff gears. So may need to fit bigger tyres. But even still. Running std tyres the tacho/speedo will read correct and same revs as per the ZD30.

There may be differences in the looms. So may need an auto elec to get rid of some of the ECU garbage.

Tacho will need to be replaced, get a console from a TD42T GU as the Tacho on the ZD30 is designed to read a 4 cylinder engine, not 6
