cd player permanent power question

Just installed a Sony CD player in the Zook and every time I turn the car off it won't store anything in the memory. I hooked the correct cable up to the 'memory' one (labeled as such) that went into the stock headset but nothing. The old one would store the time etc fine, and my mate's Zook does exactly the same thing.
So I figure -- I'll run a fused line straight from the battery to hook up to the permanent power cable, but then the CD player wouldn't even power up. Has anyone experienced this and have any suggestions? Or where under the dash can I tap into, to get permanent power going to the CD player..

yellow should be connected to permanent power so the wire to the battery should be ok.
then dont forget the red wire for accesories.
they should both be fused.
one with about a 1a fuse and the other with a 15a or so.
the larger fused wire is the permanent power ( it should be yellow)

yep red is connected to accessories, same circuit as the 12V plug in the dash.
I did fuse the line from the battery, it was strange that it didnt want to work... might grab a brand new blade fuse tomorrow and have another crack at it

i had an issue with my missus vitara.. her old wire for switchable 12v (accessories) had a 3amp fuse which didnt turn out to be anough when the stereo was turned up.. it blew. found it hidden under the dash.
good luck mate

I'm pretty sure red is permanent power and yellow is remote/acc power.
Have u tried a wire tester.

it depends on the head unit,
generally there should be 2 fused positive wires. the larger fused one will be the permanent power.
sony should be yellow although its been a few years since i installed head units regularly

One of the easiest things you can do to improve sound quality at high volume for any cd player is to have a heavy duty wire direct from the battery (with fuse of course) to CD player and an equal size earth wire

Yellow is permanant and if it was a new head unit it should have already had a fuse on it
Cleanest way is to run seperate wire direct from battery use 5mm
Red is accesories
Black earth and best to make a new earth dont use original as they are generaly only 1-2mm wire
