more power than stock 1.3l please

Hi all, I just joined the zook ranks and am looking to toughen up my new little charger. I previously had a lifted (Susp and body) pathfinder running Baja Claws and now have to drive 75 km's daily to and from work, thus the economical (if underpowered) 1.3l zook. I got a 92 hard top Sierra. Initial plans are to find some go to later accomodate for a set of 31x10.5" BF (or similar) AT's, 2" BL and some more articulate suspension.
I had been contemplating using a 4AGZE supercharger to breath some life into the little rice burner, but having read some of the threads on these boards am now a bit skeptical to say the least. I am operating on a tight budget and the car will be DRIVEN off road, but must be right for 75km of windy mountain roads 5 days a week.
Does anyone have any feasable suggestions for a good (cheapish) power upgrade to get me moving more towards 110km with a bit less than the current 4000rpm? EFI, charging I am open to suggestions!!!

G'day mate.
You are kind of asking two different questions here. One is increasing power, the other is raising gearing.
To lower your cruising revs you will need a fairly big increase in torque. If you have a WT sierra you already have the tallest suzuki diffs at 3.7:1, so other than fitting a coil sierra transfer and ending up with a useless low range, your only option will be to gear up using tyres.
However, to drop crusing revs to, say, 3K at 110 you will need 25% taller than stock tyres (around 32") and at least a 1.6 EFI vitara motor to have enough torque to achieve a 5th gear cruise.
4AGE/GZE motors are excellent and will do the job you need, but the conversion is not all that straightforward as jackshaft length becomes critical. It is still an efi conversion and north south 4AGE's don't really exist so a bunch of hunting for parts is required.
Personally, I would go to an EFI vitara motor and 31's and leave it at that.
Steve.

Without a engine swap:
A Weber Kit, and some extractors/exhaust would help - huge difference from stock (doing this myself atm).
Aftermarket cam maybe?
With engine swap:
Common swaps are 1.6L vitara EFI or carb... or a swift GTI 1.3L G13B motor (turbo, or non-turbo)
See bible for some other conversions/info.
Cheers!

I AM talking about two different things. Well three actually. I want to supercharge it, and from looking at some of the posts, the best way is to replace the top end with Vitara intake and heads to allow EFI. What is the go with this swap and does anyone make kits for the supercharger? What needs to be done to fit it (first)?
The second to fit some bigger tyres, what is the best lift option (31's)?
What is the recommended gear size for an economical ride with the above set up to effectively turn that size tyre at 110km on road?
Any help is well recieved as I've been a Suzi owner for less than a week.
Thanks Ben

I don't think you will successfully get a lower revving zook, especially at 110km/h. Zooks rev, thats what they are. The only way is more torque out of the engine, so you can run higher gearing, and I think the 1300 cannot give you sufficient torque (even with forced induction) to run big wheels in 5th gear.
The reason I presume you want to raise gearing is to improve highway economy. But what sort of economy do you want? Low geared zooks can give good economy for a 4WD. If you went 1600 injected (G16B or something similar), put probably 3.9 diff centres and 31" tyres; you could use all your gears, and gets at least 12 km/L if you drive it hard (in 2WD).
I have a zook same model as yours (92 WT), it gives consistantly 10.5 km/L, and she's stock apart from extractors, thermofan, alloy wheels, and 27" tyres. Yes alloys do help slightly with economy.
BTW: You may want to get some aftermarket seats for a 70km drive each day

Modifying for power.. yeah
Mod for height.. yeah
mod for flex.. yeah
mod for economy.. ?????
1600 Vit is a good engine for the wt zook, tyre sizes quickly sap the power with extra rubber to turn... might i suggest two sets of tiyres to solve the play vs DD issue?
I believe Mud4B from suziworx has a charger kit for the vit engine including a TBI set up...
Think hard about what you want to achieve, drive it for a while to get the feel and talk to other owners around the area (there's a few in Tas)
