Has anyone tinkered with the fuel screw on the 3 lt turbo. If so what results. Should it be done.
Cheers. Happy Trollin.

i don't think the 3lt turbo diesel patrols had a fuel screw. fueling is done by ECU.

if by 3 liter you meen sd33, then i know for a fact there is no ECU...

Sorry guys for not putting up the engine type. Its a ZD 30 in an 04 GU. I did not realise there was an earlier model 3 ltr.
Cheers anyway.

well that makes it easy...ZD30's don't have any fuel screw. you will need to use one of the tuning boxs advailable.
however just be warned, with the patrols history of blowing up ZD30 motors i would do everything you can do make it reliable before upping the fuel.
eg EGR and boost mods, check the intercooler, MAF etc.

the sd33 is actualy a 3.3(actualy3.26)litre engine, but many ppl say 3 litre for some reason, so just had to clarify...

We're using a Rapid Chip to tune the fuel on those, they are adjustable through our hand controller so we can set them to ensure EGT are good, and to suit different setups, exhaust, intercooler ect. They also have a load reference so don't activate at light throttle(cruise) for maximum economy(also adjustable).

Joel, Did you design your own controller for the rapid chip, something like a Motec system. My 3 ltr is pretty quick but lacks when I pull a trailer, espescially ina strong head wind. Being auto does not help either as it will not hold over drive (another thing I want to look into) when towing. I bought the Patrol when it was 12 months old 05 model, ex gov with 50k on the clock. It was a highway runner from western NSW. It does highway miles now and has 260ks on the clock. I am very happy with the power it has except when I hook up a trailer and want to do something about it. It even leaves my sons and his mates 80 series turbos for dead as it is. A controlled chip should help. What sort of costs involved for one of these.
Cheers.

what sort of trailer do you have? you say its lacking in a head wind, why not just fix the poor aero dynamics of the trailer?
what sort of speed are you towing at?
afaik there is a fix for the OD, kinda a bypass system.
if your going to chip it then a boost and EGT gauge is a must.

The rapid chip is from europe as far as I know, not our design, ring James as he does the pricing, I'll stick to the fun stuff.
