Hi fellas, i think my clutch and parts are on their way out, getting those bad signs! I just want to know what are the parts that are around it, for example thrust something and pressure plate? please explain, i dont know muchh about clutches.

I want to get it all replaced to get as much power from the engine to the wheels. By the way i have an L28, thats why i need all the power i can get!!
I have heard of the factory diesel clutches bolt straight on or something? Anyway, what is the best option to do, diesel clutch (if possible), factory clutch, aftermarket clutch etc etc.
And how much will this end up costing me in parts and labour? Any help will be very appreciated!!!!! thanks.

U buy a full kit, that includes thrust bearing, Clutch plate and presure plate. thats all there is to replace

also make sure if your doing the work youself to replace it to get the flywheel machined

The diesel clutch is slightly bigger than the petrol plate.

grab a clutch kit from ya usual auto parts supplier......

get the flywheel machined.......

Use an engine crane to do the gearbox remove/replace. ( through the passengers door and down through the shifter plate )
These gearboxes are HEAVY ..... you'll bust ya pooper trying a box pull by yaself.... even 3 other mates will know it when they heave ho on the box !!!....... get an engine crane !

i spoke to a guy that sells clutches, he said that a nissan skyline gtr clutch fits the L28, and its a heavier clutch to so that should be good. I dont have the know how or tools or engine crane to do it myself, so i will get it professionally done. Cheers guys

i have a swb with a chev in it, when my clutch died i took the pressure plate and clutch plate to a guy we used were i used to work, magic, not sure what he did exactly but he said it was a modifed chev/vl turbo pressure plate and a chev/300zx clutch plate. that was 4 years ago, it has been through alot of abuse and still grips hard.

i am after a clutch for my l28 now to.

i just upped the power and its starts to slip now hard under boost.

its an l28 turbo and it would be making at least 160kw at the wheels.

any ideas?? also running a set of 38's off road to so it needs to be strong.

2 choices......

1/
Nissan 300ZX clutchpak.... drift/race setup, ceramic setup or or a twin plater.
(NB: you wont ever get the twin plate setup to slip...... even if you trebled the shetlands under the hood that you have now )

2/
1999 TDI diesel plate and pressure plate.
( cheaper option and a very strong setup, I run one of these behind a warm 350Chev )

Either will do the job.......... its ya wallet that will suffer tho :finger:
