I get in the order of 14km/100l, or 6.9 km/litre, i think. I've been taking notes about refueling, but not collated yet. Mostly city driving, some highway, no towing. Great car tho. See Productreview.com.au and search for opinions.

I have an 02' Challenger with 2" lift, 31" MTR's dual fuel, blitz240's, UH090, bullbar/towbar and done 94,000K's.
Car is great on fuel, get approx 500K's out of the 75Litre tank and 300K's out of the 50Litre LPG tank and that is half city half country driving.
I have had the following hassles with the car:
Fuel Pump failed - $600 - aparrently not being run enough on the fuel so the pump corroded.
Various failures in the switches in the diffs to detect 4WD activity (Did not stop the car from going to 4WD and locking the hubs.
Blow out in mass airflow meter, so far have not seen a change in cars performace apart from one week where it failed to idle and would not run well at all - pulled the plug on the unit, restarted it and seemed fine afterwards.
Thrust bearing worn out, have not replaced, been advised not to do it until more needs to be done to the clutch.
Transfer case seal needs replacing so wont be offroad until that is done, approx $500 to reseal the case aparrently.
It is a surprising car, and alot of people are surprised at its ability offroad, even better now i have disconnected the rear swaybar.
I would not buy another one however because i want Solid Axle in the front due to the simplicity and robustness, also i do go offroad alot and it is taking its toll on the IFS.
I would recommend it as a family 4WD with potential, great value for money and a few mods allow it to be a very decent truck - another member on here and Perth4x4.net has a challenger with 2"Body lift and 33"MTR's and its very nice
Another challenger driver in my region of Perth has a Challenger with Lift, MTR's snorkel lockers , rear wheel carrier, roof rack winch bar and it looks mint.

Hey MuNches, the sway bar, disconnected: did you remove it totally, or just unbolt? I'm thinking about doing the same tomorrow for the glass-house explore, and wondering about a) just undoing one end b) totally removing it, and it'll affect drivablilty on the road?
Also, my elec arial hasn't worked since before i got it; apparntly common problem.
Replaced clutch at about 170kkm (glazed, prolly from previous owner, i bought it at 150kkm)
I welded on a couple of teeth onto the spare tye winch. (or rather built them up from weld).
The front accessory socket no worky (cig lighter). Rear is fine tho.
And that's about it for the problems. Oh, it's hard to get mountain bikes onto the roof without sidesteps and with 2" lift...

I don't think I know anyone in a Challenger or ealy model Paj's that the arial hasn't buggered up.
No probs on my Challenger at all yet with 2 years ownership and 20k clocked up.

If you want to disconnect the swaybar, just undo the bolts on both sides and let it to rest there; it won't hit anything at all and will still protect your rear diff from rocks. just make sure you keep all the bushes and washers in the right order on each bolts as it would be a bit hard to remember how they fit. It does not really affect driveability on the bitumen unless your fully loaded or trying to take tight corner at very high speed, which is not recommended even with the swaybar connected.
I have a 04 model with 2" suspension kit, double aire lockers, bullbar, IPF spotlights, custom 6mm alu bashplate, bigger rubber MTRs, LR fuel tank,...
Very capable car apart from the IFS but good value for money if you don't have the need for a bigger 4wd (e.g. patrol or landcruiser) or can't offered them.
Mine has been started to suck up a bit more on fuel recently and I think I need to get the injectors cleaned and maybe change the fuel filter but otherwise getting about 14.5lt per 100km.
Cheers,
SLY.

thanks for the reply, Sly, but why remove the bolt from both ends? I did that on the weekend, and it rattled like a mad thing.

Good on fuel (bought same as wifes new BA falcon wagon). Ours is a manual 1999 model. Only drama we have had with ours is that the electric aerial does not go up or down and that is just due to some little prick in car park deciding to generously bend it for us.
I'm thinking of selling ours cause wife got new falcon wagon and I want another patrol but if it doesn't sell then I'm more than happy top keep driving it cause compared to my previous patrols it has plenty of get up and go and is comfortable.
If you do decide you want to buy one then have a look at mine in the for sale section.

Hi all !! I just want to know pros and cons. If the 3.0lt 24 valve are reliable?? Does it has good power?? which one do you prefer the 3.0 12 valve or 3.0 24 valve?? I'm thinking about changing my 98 montero, base model for a 03 challenger. What do you think?? Reliability is my main concern
Thanks for your help...
