Hey mate

Yes its a simple job too.. Depending what engine you have, you said petrol so im guessing an L28! You will need to change the input shaft. I put a 5sp behind my L28, was a good conversion could get about 9.5Km/L with the aircon on, even with standard carby!

Dont forget the front drive shaft will need to longer and the rear shortened. the 5Sp is about 100mm longer than the 4sp Also most of the shifters in the 5speeds are further foward in the box than the 4sp.

Good Luck

I think the push rod on the clutch slave cylinder is a different length as well. Worth a check on swap over.
Good Luck.

from memory push rod is the same but trust block for clutch is definatly shorter by 5mm or so, if you dont change thrust block you will not get any clutch

yes.

Input shaft is shorter so either fit a longer input shaft or......
make an extended spigot bush to pick up the differance.

Front shaft will need lengthening.
Rear shaft will need shortening.

Front cross member will need either modifying or be moved further back ( front shaft will rub at minimal flex )

Use the top cover off of the L28 gearbox and addapt it to the diesel 5spd box ( not a major mod either )
This way the floor wont need cuiiting to allow for the differant gearlever positions.
