RS9009 ok for sierra front 2+ inch lift?

Pin top, Eye Bottom ,
663mm extended
406mm compressed
Part Number : RS9009
running 2 inch longer shackles OME light duty 2inch kit with an extra full length leaf to offset winch and bar, 1 inch bumpstop but need to go 1.5+ at the moment.
Flexs nicely with 31s, nothing huge but is functional for a standard length front suspension setup....
these might be overkill but will allow for RUF in the future i'm thinking if bumpstopped properly now. Compressed length is probably going to be the main issue.

What you and too many people miss is the dampening rate aspect of shock absorbers, which funily enough is what they are on the car to do

. Sure , it might be the right lengths, but if its valved to dampen a fully loaded F250, its going to give you the ride from hell, and will not allow your suspension to work properly.

Lay80n, it's actually likely to be the opposite. 9009's are VERY soft. I run these on the back of my G-wagen. Irun them at 5 (old five speed ones) and at 3 the car is undrivable.
They are quite long though- N76 OME's are only an inch longer open, and to run these we run 2" Bumpstop spacer and a pretty tall shock mount - as in this photo (and still don't use all the travel that's in them):
If you are up for the work, then go for it, they might actually be a pretty good shock for a sierra, unlike 90% of the Ranchos that get fitted.
Bear in mind though, as these shocks are much bigger diameter than stock, they will need more room than the stock mount, even if extended, can provide. Last thing you want to do is bend them.
Steve.
PS, I actually had these shocks dynoed so I know they are soft, I'm not just assuming. They are softer than 9012's (which I also had dynoed), which have Rancho's generic "soft" valving and are ok on a sierra at around 2 on the old 5 speed versions, (probably 4 on the nine speed)

I know what shocks are for matey! You are justified in your response as I didn't actually mention anything about the valving and suitability for a sierra but considering they're an adjustable design I figured that somewhere in the range would be suitable for the type of driving I do thats why I didn't mention anything about the dampening rate.
THanks for the input steve. I don't know if I'm quite up for modding the shock mounts as I have my eye on another project car out there so don't know if I'm going to spend more time on this one just wanted a set of shocks that wouldn't limit what HUGE travel i have at the moment

. I can prob get these for under 70 each new.
No one had actually mentioned using the 9009s for sierras so i thought i'd pose the question.
On another note, Steve do you get funky lateral shackle angles without a brace on those shackles in the Pic?
I found that at 2 inch longer I was getting really bad angles and my steering was all over the shop so ended up bracing them.....

Ha ha ha, wasnt i in a cranky mood earlier. Sorry mate, got a bit off topic, wasnt a shot at you

. From what steve has said, with a bit of tinkering they should work. My comment was more aimed at people that pick shocks due to their length without taking into consideration the valving etc. Maybe could of used some different words though. I have shackles the same as that (40mm over standard length), and dont really have much issue with whacky steering.
