New FAQ for modification rules?

This post raised something that I think is missing from the forum. I think we need a state specific FAQ that lists for each state what is legal and what isnt. Surely we have a enough "blue plate guys" on the board to ratify what is said to seperate the fact from the bullsh1t.

Moderators/Admins and users what do you think?

this user things thats a great idea :D
although how many times have we heard one thing being a go-er when it isn't actually legal. perhaps it should contain actual legislation, rather than what people have had passed.

Very good point.

A really good idea but the big issue would be a making sure there was a big flashing disclaimer absolving outerlimits and members of legal responsibility :?

Tis something of a minefield

Maybe a better idea would be a sticky thread that simply provided links to an official place for each state where you can read about modifications - i.e. vicroads website... or the list of registered engineers etc...

I think it is one of those ideas that is great but the reality behind it would suck. This type of thing would work really well if the inspectors all applied the regulations evenly but as we are all aware this is not the case.

There are so many differences between states and even between inspectors/officers that is would be hard to be conclusive. I think the best way to certify a modification is to apprach the person who is ultimately going to put their name on it and ask them what they require.

A discussion on how to do the modifications and what to look out for could be a good thing? I have found some of the technical information on this forum very useful but every time something comes up about what can be certified it gets to be a bit of 'he said she said'.

Maybe a list of mods you have done and a list of who certified them so other can approach the same people to have them certified without having to re-invent the wheel.

That'd be good, and quite workable as well.

Something like that would work.

Basically what I was aiming for was something that would make it easier for people not to make the same mistake as someone else has in the past.

The Queensland Transport boys tell me that if you have the "XXX" (forget what they called it... cert# exemp# or somethin) for a particular mod, it fast tracks your approval for the same mod...
