Just confirming, you dont actually need a charcoal canister for car to run properly do you? Its just for emissions isnt it? So i can just join the fuel lines connected to the canister and delete canister out of the system?
Im gonna put battery where the canister is in zook, and dont want to have to remount if possible.

the charcoal canister is for fuel vapour recovery so it's not essential for the car to run, however it does normally also act as the air vent for the fuel tank ie to let air into the tank as the fuel is used. BAsically it is meant to vent the fuel tank but not let the fuel smell out.
so, ditching the canister and just hooking the hoses together could cause fuel starvation.
What you would really need to do is vent the fuel tank direct to the atmosphere, which is a bit nasty and you would probably notice the fuel smell.

What chimpboy said..
You don't need it for the car to run.
It will have a purge line to the intake system that will need sorting out aswell.
It is a roadworthy item aswell so just keep it in mind if you ever go to sell it it'll need to go back in.

RELOCATE IT!!!!
I personally know of a rav4 who's owner removed the cannister and his car burned to the ground. I did an engine conversion on my old car and ditched the cannister, I left the lines open to atmo as I had no idea what it did. The guy that did the compliance insisted this be fitted before he passed it. He also mentioned a similar horror story.
I just fitted dual batts to my hilux, involved moving the charcoal cannister to the other side of the engine bay. Cost me all of $20 in hosing. Cheap insurance. Also noteworthy that when disconnected you can see fuel vapour pouring out the end of it, not a good thing in an engine bay.
You arent going to gain anything by getting rid of it, apart from a defect notice or perhaps a char grilled shell.

Funnily enough, it's also meant to be a maintenance item, replaced every 30,000 km or something like that. However I don't know a single person who has ever put a new one in.

you may have a vented fuel cap?
before we had carbon cannisters they just vented out to the air.
(on early mokes anyway)
And vented caps were a fix to mud filled vent lines.
