Fitting 31's!

Alright i have searched but i couldn't really find what i was after!
Going to 31's VERY soon!
I have the offset rims(-15) ,tyres and 3 inch lift! Will ordear gears soon!
My question is on a narrow track will i only have to cut off the front bar mounts from the stock bar? Or do i have to vertuall lift it or what do i have to do?
Don't really want to lift it more as it flexs pretty well now and i'm not reall keen on a body lift!
And also am i missing any think else i will need!

i know a bloke who runs 31'' tyres with front bars cut off standard springs and just extended shackles .cheers ron

Depends on which 31s you are getting. THey all measure different sizes. I've got the 31inch silverstone MT-117 Extremes and they measure 30.8 on an 15x8 inch -30 offset rim.
I fitted these with a 2inch susp lift, 50.8mm longer than standard shackles, no bodylift and no cutting of the outrigger bars as my ARB WInchbar mounts to them....
if you are looking for cheap muddies try the new federal mud terrain or the kuhmo mud terrain they both look the goods and are way more aggresive than the BFG pattern.
just buy what you want whack them on ramp it up and see where it hits....then out with the angle grinder
- you could possibly extend the bumpstops and bash seams to stop them chewing up in the front wheel arch.

P.s. I used to run 31x10.5's on f100 style sunnies with an Arb winch bar- needed to hammer the wheel arch sills flat to stop them scrubbing at full stretch- apart from that, no real issues on stock 1.3 drivetrain w/ 2" BL which would equate to less 'lift' than you've already got with 3" lift

So they will do till it's all set up then i'll get some centerpedes or something really aggresive!
There not going on untill gears are done for off road but will put them on and flex it up and that to see its all good!

Got gears now so i'm set! Can't use that as an excuse any more will have to think of a new one!

Everyone will have very different ideas of what is required. There are heaps of different ways to get a result, none of them are wrong (except a SPOA, which is always wrong
) and al depend on how wide you want the car, how much rubbing you are prepared to deal with, how much you want to spend, and how much you are willing to cut.
With "normal" offset rims (lets say 3-4" of backspacing on a 7" rim) the tyres will want to get all over the inner guard and shock mount on articulation, but other than the bumper bracket, shoudln't touch much elsewhere.
If you go to "offset" rims (lest say 3" backspacing or less) you will have major contact problems with the firewall and guard lip, but no rubbing on the shock or inner guard.
IMHO you will need 2" bumpstop spacers or a 2" BL to make these work and keep them out of the guards. But it will depend on how hard you drive, how tall your tyres actually are, what rim width you run, how stiff your springs are, how long your springs are and about one million other things.
Dank is WT and has large rim offset (ie he is VERY wide) so he wont get near the bumper bracket, but you will as you are NT.
Get the tyres on the car and then start working it out.
But not before you get those gears on them, or I'll get sierrajim to change the custom options so everytime you type "gears" you will get WEB WHEELER up on the screen, (which currently only happens when I type "grimbo" in)

Just throw them on and see mate.
Im running a nt lwb with 2 inch spring lift and 31 swampers. Hammered the seams up and barely get any scrub.

now get em in, stop posting threads on you fitting the 31's, they are no different from 30's, about 12mm in height...
then wheel it.
and tell me how the gears go
and what revs you do at 100k's etc

I havn't been talking that much about gears have i?
Any way yeah i brought those calmini ones from the for sale section!
Will let you know how they go but i don't have a tacho to tell ya how many revs i will be doin!
How long do you reckon it will take to change transfer casers over an hour?
As for web wheeling last weekend and the weekend befopre where the first weekend i hadn't been out for a wheel sence i turned 18 and thats 4 months ago!
I was pretty shattered too!

Let it go dude, we're only having a dig.
If I had a dollar for everytime I have read/heard someone say "I'm going to...." or "when I" or I'll come out with you guys when I......."
Good on you for getting out as much as you have, now get those tyres on there and start working through the issues as they come up.
As for revs - just use a calculator like the Novak one.
How long the cases take to swap depends on a few things - are the flanges the same? do you have to swap a handbrake over?
I would strongly suggest beefing up the transfer mounts if you are going to deeper gears, you will bend the stock ones with lockers.
Generally, a case swap should only take an hour, but there will always be little things that slow it down. Give yourself plenty of time.

Believe me i cant wait to get it all in and working!
People are saying it's only a few moew mm than the 30's but i think thats all i really need!

As for beefing up the transfer case mount things i have been told this about 276358798493 times! The guy over the road can weld and fab something up!

I've just put 31 centerpedes on my WT and all it has is 2 inch shackle lift. I'm going to do either a 2inch spring lift or 2 inch body lift to start with - then if i find i need extra lift i'll do whichever i didnt do first - but only if i really need it (hopefully u get what i mean!)
Which would you guys recommend i go with first?
BL is cheaper (get the kit for $200 off here) but not sure about installing myself - i only have basic tools.
Springs are more expensive, but they're easier to put on (i think - i'm willing to be told i'm wrong!)

if your gonna run 31's then id be spacing you front bumpstops so you dont chew the tyre up. if your springs flex right up then they will scrub up in the guards.

Did you see the price? $10. If thats too much for a tacho and speedo for a car thats done more K's than that anyway then BOOHOO.
