Leaking Power Steering - HZJ105

Post by me3@neuralfibre.com »

My power steering resovoir on the 1HZ leaks. I have replaced the hose clamps with screw types, it still leaks. I suspect it is the seal between the top cover and the sides. The fan the sprays a film of oil all over the RHS of the engine bay.
I took my little butt to the wreckers at Archerfield and got quoted $125 for one hanging near the front door - his comment - they go like hotcakes, that's why it's there.

Does anyone else have this problem, and are there any know fixes? I am thinking disassemble with prejudice and sikaflex.

Thanx

Fixed it - $0

Went all round the cover plate with vice grips as suggested by someone on here, seems to have stopped the constant weeping.

That's a price and fix I love.

Wrecker said it was a common problem.

Your power steering pump is on the way out. They are a vain pump and one of the vains may be broken and it pressurises the reservoir. Or the rotor is wearing out and getting blow back. I did one for friend recently. It stopped the leak with another pump.
Cheers.
