Body lift
Hi guys I am about to do a 2' body lift on my lux and want to know what size bolts I will need, and if there is any thing/tricks I should know before I do it to make it easy.

a good things to look at is:
1) your speedo cable to your gearbox, it can get pulled out at the gearbox end if its to tight, normally there is a couple of tie points for it on the underside of the body just take the closest one to the gearbox out.
2)Your fuel refill hose it may need to be made longer.(cut it in half and add a piece of steel pipe to lengthen it)
3) Keep an eye on wiring for engine and lights that you dont pull on them
4) If your radiator is attached to your body then remove your radiator shroud first or you can damage it because your engine fan will hit it
5)Your dust seals on your transfer case lever, you may need to pull it off and trim some of the rubber off. (i had to coz it kept slipping out of low range)
6) Your steering shaft slide will move out, just keep an eye on it so it doesnt reach maximum and break
Thats all i can think of at the moment

FJ73 2inch lift climax shackles, 2inch body lift, 33 muddies
Yeah best bet is to do that pull out one side not just one bolt when i've done lifts on ln106 i get them 6in long i think and run the die down them then cut to desired length or just leave them long we also get them in 7/16 (almost 12mm) but the you need to redrill washers and the crush tube take a bit longer but the bolts are stronger thenStruth wrote:Be careful the 4 Runners have different size bolts depending on where the body mounts. best to pull all out of one side then go and buy required bolts 2" longer, make sure they are grade 8 and use nyloc nuts.
happy lifting.
plenty of parts on the bench
what ive done in past..... buy a couple a lengths of high tensile brooker rod and many nuts to suit....... as you take out an original bolt make two the same length plus your body lift size, this way the other side of the vehicle is quicker...... rivet the nuts on one end to form a bolt, just do it cold, no heat, or this will stuff the high tensile
LN106 1uzfe - 33's - crawlers - locker
HJ61 Sprung over -20psi - 35's - dual locked

I just took mine out, was a major PITA.
Keep an eye on metal brake lines in the engine bay too. Also my rubber clutch hose had too much tension on it and split, pissed fluid everywhere and no clutch operation... sweet. It's the one between the firewall and slave cylinder (diesel model). May need to lengthen this also.

YUK,BODY LIFT....NOOOOO,DON'T DO IT! But if you must,Bravo & Pulux are right you should pay particular attention to your hydraulic cluch line, your filler hose & you may have to trim your radiator shroud a touch but shouldn't have to bend your sticks. This is what I found when I was fitting 37's,but 3yrs later & modded inner guards...body lift all gone now,YAY!

What are you trying to acheive? Body lift is ok, aslong as you spend a bit extra money to buy a steering shaft extension, weld big washers to the body and other little odds and ends. Grab yourself a copy of the writeup antman did in 4wd monthly on doing a body lift, some good information and tech about body lifts.nate_lux wrote:why wonts wrong with a body lift?? or should u just go a 4"sus
If all your trying to do is run 33's on a hilux, you could get away with moving your axle forward 20mm using offset perches and 2" spring lift with some minor bumpstop tuning.
Cheers,
Dan.
