40 Series questions.

Go easy, Im not familiar with 40's stuff. Yes I did search, no I did not find much info.

1: With the effort (cutting and remounting perches) in putting 60'S diffs in, is it worth it? Fair enough, 70mm, is a fair bit of width, but with all the troubles of putting them in.

2: Would I be stoopid not to put in the PS system from the 60 if I did do the diff swap?

3: Can the CV's be swapped from the 40'S to the 60"s diffs? I would assume not, as the 0 diff is wider.

4: How much does a 13/4B-T halfcut cost? $6,000? How hard are they to put in to replace a 2F?

5: Can you get a replacement wiring loom? As mine is uber dodgy, every wire is blue almost, and yeah. Dodgyer then my zuk.

Thanks.
midnight.

P.S. Yes I did search a few things, but gave up after getting returns like 'GQ diffs > 60 Series' when I specified 60 diffs > 40.

yes it is definatly worth the effort and do the 60 series power steering at the same time

on the front diff you dont remove the pearches, you modify the chasis mounts to suit the origional spring mounts . if you dont you spring u bolt sits/mounts over the diff centre

late model cv are ok the early ones maye have some problems the axels are different

Thankyou STIKA.

What do you mean, modify the chassis mounts? Wouldnt that mean that the mounts would be hanging over the edge of the chassis?

Also, can 60series brake lines bolt up to 40series hard lines? Or do I use the 40 series rubber lines going to the diffs.

Also, Are the tailshaft flanges different? If so, can I take the flanges off the 60 shafts and put them on the diff end of the 40 shaft?

Thanks again.

that correct you move the spring hangers

just use a complete 60 series housing and bolt up the flex from the chasis to the one on the diff

flanges will ber dependant on the 40 series model/year

Its a 1965 FJ40

That the only wat to find out

use all of the standard 60 series hard brake lines and the connect the flexable line from the hard brake line on the chasis to the 3 junction on the diff
