Zook body trailers

Hey,

I see that christover1 is looking at trailers at the moment,

wondering if anyone had any pics of zook bodies into trailers and what was done with chassis and drawbar setup.

I was thinking of using the orig spring and shock setup onto a trailer axle if needed to run zook rims and then do some chopping and capping of body but unsure on main drawbar or arms.

I know mud4b had one at least.

Crap photo I know, will see if I can get a better one

This is a guy in NSW Zook Clubs trailer
I haven't seen it close up but he also puts a fibreglass HT on it
There is a tailgate front and rear
Looks like he may have welded the left over from two ute cut jobs together
Hey, I have the bit I cut off and might know where to get another
Weld em together and chuck it on a gutted 6x4 chassis, SOA (it's a NSW thing) 31s
USUK Nic, now I've got another project to add to the thirty already going :bad-words:

I've had the zook cut down trailer idea come up in my head.
I used to have a trailer for my moke, made out of a back of a dead moke. It was very small, but only had to hold an electric wheelchair and ramps.
It towed fantastic, but weighed a lot more than a similar sized box trailer.
I canned the zook idea, as I want it more to suit more than one car, and use.
But the right bits at right price could change my mind.

Moke trailer used a bit of heavy channel as the draw bar, bolted with straps thru the floor.

fool_injected... that trailer belongs to Mick Hill, it's brilliant. You should be able to get hold of him over at the zook club public forum... just leave him a message if you need details.

mmm I saw that trailer too, but didnt have the camera handy. It looked (from a distance) like it was made out of 2 lwb tubs.

I've been wanting to do something like this since I got my car, sadly I'll probably 'never get around to it'. I got the idea when a couple of years ago I saw a SWB red LJ80 with matching trailer, it looked great, and figured a Sierra one would look good too. I can't remember where I saw the LJ, i think it was for sale somewhere...

Ive seen one of these a few months back and i think theyre the most ideal trailer for a zook, lightweight, strong. Dont rattle and bang about.

I want one! they look great.

interchangeable wheels, extra spare, carry more stuff... great option!
And would look great behind a zuk with the same paint job/same wheels/etc.

I built this trailer about 5 years ago. It is two long wheelbase backs joined together so there is a door both ends.
There was a company in Sydney that had a contract to cut the back of brand new zooks and replace it with an aluminium tray. So for a couple of cases of beer  some mates and I scored 6 backs and made trailers.

I love this thread, I've gotta et myself a LWB tub that someones chopped. The SWB trailors just look a little too short in comparison. Put a 'fuel tank' in their as well, and use it for water when camping! Or even two, one front, and back.

I was thinking like mud4bs but leaving the orig fuel tank in there maybe but with a electric pump to transfer fuel across.

Mud4b how did you seal the front? Was it cut from the back of the door or from behind the cab (left over from ute chop)? It looks like the moulded line that runs along the top and bottom of the body are filled in. Was it just filled in or is it not zook panel work?

I was thinking LWB front with SWB rear (less overhang)

this one was cut from behind the door.. and filled in with panel steel..

ive seen them done from ute chops too though. more work but it end up working out better as you can extend the front as far as you want (within reason).

yup i did this but never got it running... use the electric pumps (like the fuel station) from supercheap... way cool..

it also had a bladder underneith for water.

was so cool until my roof top tent got stolen.

Always thought teardrops to be cool

Don't know but I like the way that they've even matched the rims and paint - looks pretty good I reckon.

nickw86au, that is one nice setup. Congrats to whoever did that work, its well done (both car and trailer).

NIK, the photo is at suzisport springwood. The photos look a little grainy, I'm guessing taken by a non-digital camera; so it probably was a while ago.

Interestingly the car looks like its had the indicators in the rear side bumber bit installed. I knew thats what the removable bit was for, but until now had never seen it actually done.
